You have been invited to a selection event where you will be asked to take part in group activities and discussions focusing around the BA (Hons) Food, Nutrition and Textiles Education Degree.

The day will begin with a short presentation about the new programme, with the opportunity to ask questions about this degree.

Introduction to the programme and any questions.
Group task, which will focus on the skills and knowledge required for a Home Economics teacher.
5 minute group presentation on previous task.
Group discussion about Home Economics as a subject.

Refreshment Break

Written task (Literacy) – write about why you would like to be a Home Economics teacher and what existing skills and qualities you have that will enable you to reach this goal.

SCHOOL PLACEMENTS (all applicants)

We require this information now to agree appropriate placements for you that are approved by local authorities and the GTCS. Information from applicants who are not a offered a place, withdraw or decline their offers prior to the start of the programme will be confidentially deleted on 1 September 2024.

You have chosen a course which, if successful, will lead to a profession where you are working with children or vulnerable adults, therefore it is necessary to check your records with the Scottish Criminal Records Office (PVG). This is a disclosure of criminal convictions of those with access to children and young people under 18 and vulnerable adults. The information you provide will be treated as confidential and used only in connection with your course application and destroyed when it has served that purpose. This offer is also made subject to PVG check and clearance, we reserve the right to withdraw our offer should you be unable to provide the evidence requested or fail to gain a clear PVG check. If any other information comes to the attention of the college that has not been shared/disclosed whereby college management cannot appropriately manage the safety and welfare of students and staff your college place may have to be withdrawn.

The interview will consist of an outline of the course content and then an informal discussion about future goals, any experience that you might have in the hospitality industry, qualifications you may have and you will meet staff members too.

Your interview will normally be on Microsoft Teams but if you would prefer to come onto campus, then we would love you welcome you and give you a tour of the department in addition to your interview.
