Guidance for Prospective Students 

Welcome to our Creative Industries department and thank you for choosing UHI Perth. We want to make your interview/audition day as stress-free as possible and this quick guide is designed to help you make the most of your day. 

The following is a guide for all applicants. 

Here is the timetable for your interview/audition day at Perth College UHI. 

  • Welcome and Introduction (15 minutes)
  • Written Activity and Theory Activity (1 hour) to assess your current level - (not Musical Theatre Courses)
  • Tour of Facilities (20 minutes)
  • Individual Interviews and Auditions.

During the welcome and introduction, we will outline the course content, college services and facilities. At the end you will have the chance to ask questions and discuss any aspect of the course.

For interview you should prepare and bring the following:

1 Proof of academic achievements (exam certificates, preliminary results, etc).

2 Files that demonstrate prior or current music production or sound engineering (that you can leave with us).  Not mandatory, only if you have them.

3 Pen and paper.

Technical Theatre

The Technical Theatre course – is designed to reflect the increase in technical requirements required in all types of theatre and performance events. Interview requirements are the same as those for Sound Production. 

For interview you should prepare and bring the following:

  1.  Proof of academic achievements (exam certificates, preliminary results, etc).
  2.  If you have a portfolio/proof of previous Technical Theatre work please bring to the interview.

The audition/interview will consist of:

An introduction/ice breaker; a vocal workshop; a dance/movement workshop.

You will also need to prepare:

1 musical theatre song that demonstrates your ability

1 monologue from a published play (1-2 minutes)

Please bring sheet music and digital backing track to audition.

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for dance music.

Please bring SQA Certificate, Records of Achievement and any other certificates to the interview.

Overseas Auditions

Before interview is arranged, you must submit a video portfolio of the following:

1 Musical Song

1 Monologue (1-2 minutes)

1 Dance Piece (1-2 minutes)
