Disclosure of Criminal Convictions of Those with Access to Children and Young People Under 18 and Vulnerable Adults 

You have chosen a course which, if successful, will lead to a profession where you are working with children or vulnerable adults, therefore it is necessary to check your records with the Scottish Criminal Records Office (PVG). This is a disclosure of criminal convictions of those with access to children and young people under 18 and vulnerable adults. The information you provide will be treated as confidential and used only in connection with your course application and destroyed when it has served that purpose. This offer is also made subject to PVG check and clearance, we reserve the right to withdraw our offer should you be unable to provide the evidence requested or fail to gain a clear PVG check. If any other information comes to the attention of the college that has not been shared/disclosed whereby college management cannot appropriately manage the safety and welfare of students and staff your college place may have to be withdrawn.

Task

Write a letter introducing yourself to your tutor. 250-300 words

You should go onto discuss the following things

1 Your own personal background and how this has helped you make the decision to study the HNC Childhood Practice course.

2 Your own experiences of childcare (eg own children, volunteering).

3 Your own experience of working with others (school, work, projects).

4 Your own values/beliefs about children/child care and how this will influence your practice as a child care practitioner. (eg One of my core values is empathy, as it allows me to understand and share the feelings of others, which is especially important when working with children).

The interview will begin with a short group presentation of the online learning materials and will last approximately 20-30 minutes. This will then be followed by a 15 minute individual interview. 

You may also be expected to complete a brief written piece/personal statement during the interview process.

The interview process will take approximately 1-2 hours.
