Richard Collins, Independent Board Member

Richard Collins has over 35 years experience of working in the UK FE and HE system having been a lead advisor/consultant for Scottish, rest of UK and international universities and colleges, UK and Scottish governments, Scottish Enterprise, the Scottish Funding Council, the NHS, UK research councils, local authorities, the World Bank and a range of knowledge intensive businesses and private sector organisations.  He also comes with considerable previous knowledge of the UHI family having led successful major capital and revenue funding cases for the UHI, HIE and the Scottish Government. 

Richard’s academic and professional  background is in town planning, economics and management consultancy and prior to setting up Education and Innovation Business Consultants (EiBC) 6 years ago, he was for 20 years Director of International Education and Innovation at the global real estate business Cushman & Wakefield. 

His knowledge and experience has meant he has worked with educational and business partners on a wide range of ventures leading assignments on new universities, college and university mergers/partnerships, financial and curriculum reviews, university and college estate strategies and successful funding cases, science parks, net zero energy projects, incubators, knowledge exchange services and student residential accommodation. Richard is very much looking forward to helping UHI Perth with the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead.
