Guide to recruitment and selection
We are committed to equality of opportunity in our recruitment and selection processes and will generally advertise our vacancies externally.
From time to time, for business reasons, we may require to advertise opportunities internally only.
Applications may be made online or by contacting 01738 877444 to request a recruitment pack for an advertised post. Please advise us if you require the application form and job information in large print or alternative format.
We will make reasonable adjustments to enable applicants to fully participate in our selection process. If you wish to discuss your application needs, please contact the HR Officer on 01738 877211.
All post holders within UHI Perth require to be vetted through Disclosure Scotland. Depending on the role or post, this will require a Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme Record or a Basic Disclosure check.
UHI Perth will act within Disclosure Scotland's Code of Practice to ensure that:
- Disclosure information released will be used properly and fairly.
- Disclosure information is handled and stored appropriately and is kept for only as long as necessary and thereafter disposed of securely.
Regulated work with UHI Perth is exempt from the provisions of Sections 4(2) and 4(3)b of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2003 (as amended). Applicants for posts involving regulated work are required to disclose criminal convictions at the time of application. Applicants should note that declaration of a criminal conviction will not preclude employment with UHI Perth and we will apply the terms of our Policy on the Recruitment of Ex-Offenders.
We are required to conduct checks on all prospective staff to ensure they are eligible to work in the UK. Where a work permit is required, this must be obtained prior to the commencement of employment.
Pre-employment medical screening is also a normal part of our selection process. This is co-ordinated through our occupational health provider and applicants should note that UHI Perth does not see any medical detail or information. We will use the information provided by our occupational health service to consider appropriate support and adjustments where reasonable and necessary.
