Visual Communication students gain valuable industry insight
Students enjoyed a series of guest talks, employer sessions and skills focused workshops.
Students from all year groups on the BA (Hons) Visual Communication and Design degree at UHI Perth have in the past three weeks had access to exploring career pathways and building industry understanding through a series of guest talks, employer sessions and skills focused workshops.
In the first week there were graduates returning to share their professional journeys. Covering areas from graphic design to game design, alumni offered first hand insight into how they moved from university into the creative industries, giving current students realistic perspectives on career progression.
This was followed by a visit from a local graphic design studio specializing in high end corporate identity. Students were able to speak directly with practitioners, explore live opportunities and gather practical guidance on pitching and securing creative work.
Most recently, students attended an event led by the National Film and Television School (NFTS), focusing on opportunities across film, television and games. Through a series of talks and interactive workshops, students learned more about potential careers in areas such as:
• Animation
• Film production
• Visual effects (VFX)
• Special effects (SFX)
Visual Communication remains a dynamic and future focused discipline, with graduates progressing into a wide range of creative roles. With strong industry links and real world engagement embedded throughout the course, students at UHI Perth gain the practical skills, confidence and professional awareness needed to thrive in an evolving and competitive sector.
