Students in the on-campus accommodation

Applications are now closed for Student Accommodation for the academic year September 2025 to May 2026.We are currently reviewing all submissions and anticipate room offers will be made towards the end of May.  If you have not yet applied for accommodation but would still like to be considered, please email residences.perth@uhi.ac.uk and ask to be added to the waiting list.

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply for student accommodation:

  • You need to have accepted a conditional or unconditional offer to study (or be a continuing student) on a full-time UHI Perth course which starts September 2025. (Please note: UHI Perth Aviation students are eligible to apply, however we cannot consider applicants who are studying directly with the Air Service Training unit.)
  • You must be at least 16 years old by 20 August 2025 – we cannot accept residents under this age.
  • You must be ready for independent living. Students who live in our accommodation are treated as adults and are expected to have the necessary level of maturity, skill, and responsibility to be able to adapt to living away from home. This means they keep their rooms clean, do their own laundry, cook for themselves, and contribute to keeping communal areas tidy.  You should also be prepared to live alongside people from a wide variety of backgrounds who are likely to have different habits, routines, and perspectives.

What happens next?

We usually receive a high volume of applications, so we encourage prospective students to apply early. To manage expectations, we will temporarily close to new applicants Sunday 11th May 11.59pm (UK time), while we review applications. Any students who require a specific room for medical reasons may be asked to provide supporting medical evidence of this prior to an offer being made. Accommodation offers will be made towards the end of May. If there are any remaining vacancies, we will reopen the application form and post updates to our social media. Once all available rooms have been allocated, eligible applicants will be placed on a waiting list and may be offered places in the event of cancellations, withdrawals, or upon the release of any unused reserved rooms.

How do you decide who gets a place in the Student Accommodation?

Since we have a limited capacity of 78 places, we cannot guarantee anyone a room. We endeavour to ensure that all applications are treated fairly. When it comes to making offers, we prioritise students using a number of criteria including:

  • Students in their first year of study since leaving school.
  • Students who live a significant distance from the campus.
  • Students who have in-person classes on campus.
  • UHI Perth is also committed to supporting students who are Carers, Care Experienced, or Estranged when possible.

We also consider other factors to ensure a good mix of students in the flats/houses, such as course studied, gender, and age.See our FAQs page for further information.
