Understanding Your Options

On Tuesday 4 August 2026, thousands of learners across Scotland will receive their qualifications results. For some, the next step is already planned. For others, Results Day may be the start of exploring alternative options. Whatever your results, there are a range of pathways into further and higher education, and plenty of support available to help you make informed decisions.

Support Available on Campus
If you'd like to speak to someone in person after receiving your results, Skills Development Scotland (SDS) careers advisers will be available on the UHI Perth campus on Results Day. Advisers will be based in the former IT Suite on the ground floor of the Webster Building and will be available for drop-in support between 9am and 4pm on Tuesday 4 August. They can provide impartial advice on university and college applications, Clearing, apprenticeships, employment opportunities and alternative study pathways.

The SDS careers team will also be available by appointment on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 August. You can find out more about careers support available at UHI Perth .

• Further advice and support through SDS. If you can't make it to our drop in, you're unsure about your next step, or are a parent or carer and worried about your young person’s results, Skills Development Scotland (SDS) offers free, impartial advice during Results Week. Their dedicated SDS Results Helpline: 0808 100 8000 is available Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 August: 8am to 8pm and Thursday 6 and Friday 7 August: 9am to 5pm. • If you're interested in studying at UHI Perth this September, a number of Further and Higher Education courses are still accepting applications across a range of subject areas.
• UHI has a dedicated Clearing webpage with guidance on the application process, entry requirements, available vacancies and who can apply through Clearing. Students who already have their results can contact UHI directly to discuss their options and available places.
• If you've applied through UCAS, log in to your UCAS Hub to check your UCAS status regarding your application before making any decisions. You may find that your place has been confirmed, you're still being considered, you're eligible for Clearing or you want to explore alternative courses or institutions. UCAS provides detailed information on Confirmation and Clearing, including what different application statuses mean and the steps you should take next.
• Qualifications Scotland have an essential guide to helps learners understand their Scottish Qualifications Certificate, and how the Appeals service works.
• Researching courses is only one part of making a decision. Hearing directly from other students can provide useful insight into university life, studying styles and career progression.
