College shortlisted for sustainability award

Perth College UHI have been shortlisted for three Green Gown Awards 2019 for innovative projects within the sport and fitness team.

Increasing employability in the outdoor sports sector

The initiatives include ‘intergenerational physical activity projects in care homes’; ‘increasing employability in the outdoor sports sector’; and a schools/college partnership programme - Passport to Sport.

Organised by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC), the awards recognise exceptional sustainability initiatives by universities and colleges.

Margaret Cook, Perth College UHI Principal said: “We work to ensure Perth College UHI thrives and prospers in environmentally sustainable ways. Being shortlisted for three projects in the Green Gown Awards demonstrates our commitment to working effectively and efficiently to provide the best possible student experience and outcomes.”

Sharon McGuire, Sector Manager - Sport and Fitness added: “We’re thrilled to have our fantastic projects recognised. Our students had the opportunity to be part of the unique activities which enhanced their learning about environmental and sustainability issues in sport.”
