National Walking Month

Join us for 5k a Day in May.
May is National Walking Month and we want you to get involved!

Walking has many physical and mental benefits and as little as 20 minutes per day can make a great difference to your mental and physical health and your overall wellbeing. 

We will have individual calendars up on the wall as you head into the gym. All you need to do is write your name on one of the calendars, try your best to complete a 5k every day (or as often as you can) whether this is a run, cycle, walk or accumulation of movement throughout the day. Tick the days off and keep yourself accountable

You can also join our facebook page where you can post photos, share what you are up to and motivate one another

9th - 15th Mental Health Awareness Week 

Keeping active is a great way to release endorphins, relieve stress, improve mood, concentration, productivity and much more. ASW recognises how great an impact exercise has on your Mental Health

To promote the positive impact exercise and physical activity can have on mental health, the Academy of Sport & Wellbeing is offering FREE access to the ASW gym for all staff and students until Sunday 15 May 2022. The ASW is also offering free access to the general public all day Wednesday 11 May 2022.

How can you get involved? 

Complete the PARQ form and select “Mental Health Awareness Week staff and students” in the membership section.
Turn up to ASW anytime.

How do I book a fitness class?

Option 1: Once you complete the form, you’ll receive a welcome e-mail from us explaining how to download the mywellness app. You can book all fitness and wellness classes in advance through the app.
Option 2: Complete the form and turn up… if there’s space, you’ll get in!
