Courses and Group Bookings

We are passionate about getting people to participate and develop in the sport of climbing - and one way to achieve this is through the provision of various courses and sessions.

Bookings for most sessions can now be done online - simply scroll down to choose what session you want to take part in and click the 'BOOK NOW' link.  A deposit will be taken on booking and the remainder can be either paid over the phone at any time or at reception on the day of the session.  All bookings are made as a private group, so you can be assured that only the people you book in with will be on your session. 

All prices include instruction, hire and admission to the wall

There are minimum age requirements and minimum group numbers for some sessions - please see below for more information on each session

A consent form must be completed for anyone taking part in an instructed session. 

Supervised Consent (U16) must be compleed by the Parent/Legal Guardian

Supervised Consent (16+) must be completed by the individual taking part

If you would like to try climbing in a fun and relaxed way then a taster session is for you.  The session is designed to give you as much climbing time as possible.  

Session is 1 hour

You know climbing is for you, and you want to learn all you need to know to go indoor climbing independently, safely and with confidence!

Session is 2 hours

  • Minimum age 14 (if under 14 we recommend NICAS or Supervising a Junior Session)
  • Group Size:  min 2 (please note we require 2 people to run this course) and max 4
  • Cost: £60pp
  • Cost includes a boulder induction and a free pass for your next visit
  • Everyone learns at different speeds and in different ways.  If you require any further instruction following completion of this course we have options available for a Safety Skills Refresher session.  Your instructor will discuss this with you during and at the end of your Learn to Climb course

Learn to Lead Climb Course

Similar to the 'Learn to Climb' Course in structure, but specifically looking at 'Lead Climbing'.

This course requires that you are a confident and competent top rope climber with experience.

Session is 3 hours

  • Minimum age: 14 yrs 
  • Group Size: min 2 (please note we require 2 people to run this course - and both must be competent top rope climbers) and max 4
  • Cost: £80 pp
  • Cost includes a free pass for your next visit
  • Everyone learns at different speeds and in different ways.  If you require any further instruction following completion of this course we have options available for a Safety Skills Refresher session.  Your instructor will discuss this with you during and at the end of your Learn to Lead Climb course

Safety Skills Refresher

You've done some climbing before but can't quite remember it all - and want the confidence to be able to climb independently, safely and with confidence. This session can be tailored to focus on either top rope or lead climbing safety skills

You MUST have prior climbing experience.

Are you struggling to up your grade, climb a route or just want to improve your movement?  Then our bespoke personal coaching sessions are for you!  Experienced and passionate staff will help identify areas for improvement and design training exercises and development plans tailored to you.

  • £30  pp per hour

Supervising a Junior

This course is designed to give adults the skills and confidence needed to take juniors (under 16) climbing in a fun and safe way - without having to leave the ground!

You will learn how to correctly fit an appropriate harness to yourself and your child, how to tie into a harness using an appropriate knot and how to belay safely.

If your child is a competent top rope climber who is also lead climbing (perhaps through NICAS) then we can run a Supervising a Junior Lead Climbing courses to allow you to bring your child lead climbing.  Please email climbmanager.perth@uhi.ac.uk or call 01738 877313 for more information

Session is 2 hours

  • No minimum age but if there is only one adult we recommend that the child is at least 7 years old.  If your child is under 7 then please get in touch to discuss further
  • Group Size: Min 2 (one adult and one child) and Max 4 (2 adults and 2 juniors)
  • Cost:
    • Adult:  £45 pp or 2 for £70
    • Junior (under 16): £5.50 pp
  • Cost includes boulder induction and 2 free junior passes for your next visit(s)
  • Everyone learns at different speeds and in different ways.  If you require any further instruction following completion of this course we have options available for a Safety Skills Refresher session.  Your instructor will discuss this with you during and at the end of your Supervising a Junior course

Why not have a party with a difference and try climbing!

If you have any special requests please get in touch and we will do our best to cater for all your needs.  These sessions are designed to maximise the amount of climbing and fun (whether on ropes or boulder wall subject to availability).

Session is 1 hour

  • Minimum age 7
  • Group size: up to 12
  • If you are looking for a party for over 12 kids please email climbmanager.perth@uhi.ac.uk with your preferred day(s)/time(s) and group number and we will get back to you to arrange a bespoke booking
  • Cost: £15pp - minimum charge £90.00 (this covers up to 6 kids).  Please note you pay £90 when booking online - any additional payments due for groups of over 6 people can be paid on the day of the session

For parties that are booked on weekends or durnig school holidays we can offer a space in the ASW to host a party after the session!  You can bring your own decorations and party food!  

£15 room hire for 1 hour following climbing session - payable on arrival to the session

Social Climbing for Adults

Whether you are already a keen climber, or have never climbed before - our Social Climbing Sessions for Adults are a great place to meet others and get climbing! This is an instructor led session where the focus is on climbing as much as possible and meeting like minded people. Whenever appropriate instructors will support you to start to learn / develop existing safety skills required to climb and boulder safely. The instructor can also offer some hints and tips to support your climbing development.

  • Session is 2 x hours
  • No previous experience necessary and all abilities and levels of experience welcome
  • Ages 18+
  • Mondays and Wednesdays @ 6.45pm - 8.45pm
  • All equipment provided
  • No requirement to attend all sessions, simply choose a date and complete the booking information. If you would like to book subsequent sessions then use the 'Schedule Another Event' button on the booking confirmation page
  • The group size is limited to 6 each session to ensure everyone gets plenty of climbing - on both the roped and boulder areas at the discretion of the group and instructor. We can run the session even if only one person is booked in.
