Student praises exceptional support from Student Services team

“Remarkable” support received from staff

UHI Perth has received heartfelt praise from a former student who shared an emotional message of thanks recognising the “remarkable” support he received from staff during his studies.

In a personal email addressed to Additional Support Officers Craig Lindsay and Becky Angus, former student Craig Pringle expressed his “deepest and most heartfelt thanks” for the care, encouragement, and guidance provided to him throughout his time at UHI Perth.

Craig, who lives with cerebral palsy and travelled from Uddingston each day to attend the campus, said he chose UHI Perth despite being able to study at any college or university in Scotland—highlighting the college’s reputation for outstanding student support. Reflecting on his experience, Craig wrote: “From the very beginning, your understanding, patience, and kindness created an environment where I felt seen, heard, and supported. The learning support I received was nothing short of remarkable — it gave me confidence, reassurance, and the tools I needed to navigate my studies.”

He went on to describe the lasting impact of the team’s commitment: “Your compassion, professionalism, and commitment made a difference that goes far beyond the classroom. I will carry the lessons and support you gave me with me for years to come.” Craig also shared his hope to return to campus in future to thank the team in person.

Interim Principal and Chief Executive Catherine Etri praised the exceptional work of Craig Lindsay and Becky Angus, saying: “This is what makes this college an amazing place, and you are the people who make it so special. Be very proud of your achievements and thank you so much for everything you do for our students.”

Student Experience Manager Gerald McLaughlin said the email reflects the college’s commitment to putting students first: “Feedback like this reinforces the difference our staff make every day. We are incredibly proud of the care and dedication shown by our Student Services team.”

Craig Lindsay, Additional Support Officer, added that the message was particularly meaningful considering Craig’s breadth of experience across different education settings.
