Kick-starting Semester Two with Music Industry Guest Speakers Idlewild and Paul Grieve

Scottish alternative rock band, Idlewild are having a live rehearsal in Perth College UHI in the Goodlyburn Theatre Monday 23 February 10am. They return with a new album which is currently at number 8 in the midweek album charts. They will be rehearsing for their upcoming European tour - giving music students the chance to learn about tour-preparation from a band with 20 years experience touring in their own right, and alongside some the world's biggest names in popular music, having filled stadiums and amphitheatres with Coldplay, U2, REM and The Rolling Stones.

Audio students also have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience working on a real world pre-production project."

We also have Paul Grieve (Artist Manager) speaking with Perth College UHI students 3pm in Brahan Lecture Theatre. Students will benefit from hearing about Paul’s extensive experience as he has worked as an Artist Manager within the music industry for the best part of a decade. From his first musical venture with 'The Law', where he was asked to take on the role of manager just as they were signing to EMI, to his current act – Model Aeroplanes – he has grasped every piece of knowledge he could along the way and with no formal or academic training, has become a highly respected Artist Manager within the UK music industry, building partnerships and proudly releasing music for the past 10 years. Paul also has worked to market acts in the USA and worldwide. Students will benefit from hearing about Paul’s extensive experience in the music industry.

Overall feedback from students has been extremely positive from last year’s line-up.
