Father and son celebrate graduation success

at UHI Perth

For one family, this year's UHI Perth graduation ceremony became a double celebration as father and son, Ype van der Schaaf and Pieter van der Schaaf, celebrated their graduation success together.  

Ype graduated with a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching Qualification Further Education, while his son Pieter achieved a Professional Development Award in Professional Pastry.  

The occasion was made even more special as Ype is a Sector Manager for Business and Hospitality at UHI Perth, where he plays a key role in supporting students and shaping future talent within the industry.  

Attending the ceremony together provided a unique opportunity for them to celebrate their achievements as a family. Ype said: "This was a proud family moment that we will remember for years to come."  

Catherine Etri, Interim Principal added: "Ype and Pieter's achievements embody the spirit of continuous learning that we encourage at UHI Perth across our diverse student community. This family story highlights the value of lifelong learning and demonstrates that education can create opportunities at every stage of life."
