Library and Careers Service
When you're making big decisions about your future, like whether to take a course at college or getting the career you want, it's important that you get the right information, advice and guidance.
That's where the Library and Careers Service come in.
Location
The library is located in the Brahan building over two floors. On the first floor you will find the enquiry desk, text-book collection, regular and silent study space, DVDs and PCs. Second floor comprises of group study and soft seating area, it also holds our fiction books, journal, magazines, newspapers and Mac computers.
As you might expect from a university campus, we have a custom-built, modern space housing over 30,000 books, journals and multimedia items. As part of the University of the Highlands and Islands, our students can access a huge variety of Electronic Resources, including E-books and E-journals. As you progress through your course, you will have assignments to complete and exams to sit. The library facilities and services can help you to prepare for them and achieve better results.
UHI Perth students and staff can borrow up to 15 books on standard loan up to 150 days. DVDs can be borrowed for a period of 14 days. Items issued on a standard loan can be recalled after 2 weeks, following a request from another user. Once you receive a recall message, you need to return the item before the recall date, or you will be charged fines at £1 per day, per item. Recall, reservation, and overdue notices are sent to your student/staff email.
A valid student ID card is required to borrow any materials from the library. The person who borrowed materials from the library is solely responsible for their return.
Author Tracey Emerson chatted to us about her experience of working with the UHI Perth Library Team.
