Dear Evan Hansen
"You will be found" in this award-winning coming-of-age hit. Dear Evan Hansen follows Evan, a socially anxious high school senior who longs to be seen and accepted. When a letter he writes to himself is mistaken for the suicide note of a troubled classmate, Evan is drawn into a web of misunderstandings that unexpectedly give him the connection he has always wanted — with his peers, a grieving family, and the girl he loves. As Evan’s fabricated story spreads and takes on a life of its own, he must confront the consequences of his lies and decide whether the comfort they bring is worth the cost of the truth. A deeply human story about loneliness, grief, and the need to belong, Dear Evan Hansen asks what it truly means to be found.

UHI Perth theatre department presents Dear Evan Hansen, the internationally acclaimed musical, in the show’s first-ever amateur production in Perth. Released to amateur companies only late last year, this landmark staging brings together students from HND Musical and Technical Theatre, BA Theatre Industry Practice, and BA Popular Music, with performers, production teams, and a live pit band collaborating on a fully realised professional training production.
The winner of six Tony Awards (including Best Musical), the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album, and an Olivier Award for Best Musical, Dear Evan Hansen is a deeply personal and profoundly contemporary musical about life and the way we live it.
Dear Evan Hansen is a powerful, emotionally charged story about connection, identity, and the need to be seen. Featuring a soaring score and urgent themes of mental health, grief, and belonging, the show speaks directly to a generation navigating an increasingly disconnected world.
Running 26th–29th March 2026, with both matinees (1-3pm selected days) and evening shows (7-9pm), this production showcases the passion, skill, and creativity of UHI Perth’s next generation of performers, musicians, and theatre-makers.
