Skills for Work Engineering Skills is an entry level qualification which develops practical skills, knowledge and understanding, alongside the employability skills needed in an engineering sector.

Students will gain a variety of transferable skills which will be useful for further study in more specific engineering disciplines, or for progression to a Foundation or Modern Apprenticeship.

Content will include the four broad Engineering areas of Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Fabrication, and Manufacture.

The Manufacture and Assembly Unit involves the application of mechanical, electrical/electronic and fabrication skills. Students will make and assemble their project in our well-equipped workshops.

Employability skills are integral to the course, and introduce students to the key skills that are required by employers in the industry, including: time-keeping; following Health and Safety instructions and carrying out quality checks on work.

Open to pupils in S4. It is essential that students have a keen interest in engineering. You will be invited to attend an interview with College staff.
