Our NQ Basic Engineering is ideal for students starting out in engineering as it provides practical hands on training in skills including machining, fitting, welding and electrical installation. The course is also suitable as a refresher course for updating your engineering skills.
No formal entry are required, but you will be invited to discuss your application with us and your application and interview will form part of the selection process.
You will learn a number of practical skills including:
And you will learn how to work effectively and safely. In addition to the practical skills you will develop you will also enhance your employability through the enhancement of your communication, numeracy and information technology abilities. You will gain a Performing Engineering Operations Level 1 award.
Face to face teaching and practical hands on
Most full-time students will have their fees paid.Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.
Following a successful completion of the NQ you should progress to the NC Engineering Systems or Performing Engineering Operations Level 2.
There is currently a shortage of engineers with practical skills and this course will give you the basic skills to progress into a range of engineering disciplines includng the oil and gas sector, both on-shore and off-shore renewables and general manufacturing.
