Educational/Research Background

I have taught and researched in Higher Education at both graduate and postgraduate levels since 1992. My areas of interest have developed over time to embrace industrial relations, political economy, globalisation, work and society, sport and crime. I also have longstanding interests in the broad area of critical theory and how it can be variously applied to the aforementioned substantive interests.

I remain research active and I have published a number of papers and article in academic peer reviewed journals over the course of a number of decades. I am a Member of ‘The Socialist Theory and Movements Network’ at Glasgow University: an interdisciplinary forum for debate and critical engagement with the traditions, legacies and ongoing concerns of socialist theory and praxis. I currently sit on editorial boards of two international academic journals, Soccer and Society and Critique.

The Masters module, ‘Globalisation, employment and work’ (MSc in Globalisation and Crime), brings together a number of areas of long standing personal, teaching and researching interests developed throughout my academic career.
