We are a dedicated, qualified and specialist team with extensive experience teaching and supporting students who benefit from additional support for their learning.

Our students can expect a supportive learning environment in which to build confidence, skills for life and independence. Students are given the chance to try different subjects, receive recognition for the work they do and support with their next steps.

In line with Curriculum for Excellence, we provide a range of courses, which have been designed to encourage progression through core skills and work experience in order to develop sustainable skills for life.

We offer a variety of subjects including: computing; music; drama and cooking. We also deliver the Duke of Edinburgh Award and have good collaborative links with other colleges and schools. We have a partnership with St. Johnstone Football Club to run the Healthy Lives course for our Stepping Out class. We have professional input from NHS Tayside Mental Health, Community Learning Disability Nurses and Mind Space. We also have close working relationships with PUSH and Giraffe social enterprises.

A parent of a student who was in our department said: “I can’t praise the SVS department at UHI Perth enough! They are an incredible team of dedicated people with the students interests at heart. The time my son spent there has been transformational for him.”
