Jakub Gruszka

Jakub’s home town is Torun, Northern Poland. He came to college to complete ESOL English.

I was a full-time worker in a factory but it was really exhausting so I decided to leave it and do something that I enjoy. I decided to choose this course to improve my English and prepare for further studying at UHI Perth. I enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the lecturers are always keen to help - even after the classes in their free time.

The course as a whole was a very positive experience and it will help me progress onto the Indoor Sport course and then hopefully the HND Sports Therapy.

I also have a part-time job as a chef and I usually work about 25 hours a week, but I don’t think it affects my studying. Sometimes it has been quite tough, but good life organisation is the key I think.

I would recommend UHI Perth – it’s quite modern and the people working here are extremely friendly and always keen to help. Also the great new facilities - the Academy of Sports and Wellbeing where the membership costs only £10 a month for students. Anyone thinking of coming to college – I would say don’t think twice, UHI Perth is a great choice and from being unsure at the beginning, now I would recommend to it everyone.
