Welder Training and Qualification Testing - Intermediate
What is special about this course?
We offer welder training courses arranged in three incremental levels 'beginner', 'intermediate' and 'advanced'. The courses are designed and delivered by fully qualified and experienced welders and we have our own in-house accredited assessors; allowing for flexibility and smooth transition to more advanced levels.
The content and level of training is tailored to specific requirements, and follows a structure starting from basic craft skills, to more advanced skills. Where appropriate, prior to the delivery of training individual diagnostic assessments can be conducted to help clarify and identify current skills and abilities.
The range and level of welding courses on offer lead to a coded welding qualification. This is useful for those working in the broad areas of fabrication and manufacturing industry wishing to update or upgrade existing welding skills and qualifications or for those wishing to develop new skills in thermal joining.
Intermediate: Aimed at students with MIG welding experience, this eight week course is designed to help candidate learn up hand welding skills and attain the British Standards (BS4872) welding certificate.
Entry requirements
The course is suited to students who may have had prior experience of MIG welding.
Students will be MIG welding steel from 1.6mm and 3mm in the up hand position and on the eighth week will be tested for BS4872. All welds will be tested as industry requirements and successful students will gain certification through the British Standards Welding Institute

Most full-time students will have their fees paid.
Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.
What can I do on completion of my course?
This standard is the minimum requirement for students welding vehicles in the automotive industry. These certificates have a two year life span so require the student to re-sit the course every two years.
