Learn while you work with Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs). Modern apprenticeships in Scotland are available for people who are aged over 16 and in employment. With on-the-job training and regular meetings in the workplace you can gain a recognised qualification without studying full-time. Funding for MAs can be gained from Skills Development Scotland.
If you want to earn and learn, becoming a food and beverage apprentice is a great solution. Work based allows you to develop skills and knowledge and therefore gain a qualification whilst you are working. Hospitality is one of the fastest growing industries and having the qualifications to be trained in food and beverage will make you even more employable.
Potential students must be working in a food and beverage environment.
This course is made up of ten units and we will help you navigate your options to fit into your workplace.
This qualification gives you a good grounding of the skills and knowledge required to work in food and beverage. You may study counter/takeaway service, table/silver service/buffet/carvery service/cocktails/wines/customer service. You will also study food hygiene, health and safety and team working.
Modern apprentice route: You will also study five core skills (communications, working with others, problem solving, information technology and numeracy), REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene and REHIS Elementary Health and Safety and Scottish Alcohol Licensing Certificate for staff working on drink service routes within Licensed Premises.
Most full-time students will have their fees paid.Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.
On completion of the course you may apply to progress onto SVQ 3 Hospitality Supervision and Leadership, depending on your job role.
