What is special about this course?

Skill Up is a course designed to offer an opportunity to those young people who wish to prepare themselves for successful and sustainable study. It may be particularly relevant to young people who have been affected by disruption to learning during COVID, either impacting on their mental health or resulting in gaps in their learning. The course could also be relevant to ESOL learners with settled status.

It will enable you to develop the skills and confidence to become a successful student and make positive choices about your future.

The course includes an opportunity for a residential experience and outdoor learning.

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements, but you will be asked to come for an interview.

Students will work towards SQA units at level 3 over 18 hours per week.

Units will include:

  • Personal Development
  • Core Skills
  • Employability
  • Volunteering
  • Wellbeing
  • Duke of Edinburgh

Blended, but with the majority face to face

Fees

Most full-time students will have their fees paid.

Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.

You may progress on to Next Steps 2 Learning or other vocational courses across the College.

You may also progress into employment or working with a training provider.
