What is special about this course?

A great opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills required for a career in the health care or social care professions. You also study for a Higher Care Group Award in Health Care and Social Care.

Entry requirements

Seven qualifications with at least five at National 5 or successful completion of Intermediate 2 Care. If you don’t meet our entry requirements, your previous experience and credentials may still qualify you for this course. Please arrange an appointment with a member of college staff to discuss your eligibility. Your application and interview will form part of the selection process. All applicants will be required to successfully pass a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check.

Subjects studied include human development and social influence, IT, numeracy and communications at National 6 level.  This course provides a voluntary experience and completion of the course would enable you to achieve the Scottish Group Award.

Most full-time students will have their fees paid.

Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.

What can I do on completion of my course?

You can apply for a range of Perth College UHI courses including HNC Care and Administrative Practice; HNC Social Care; HNC Social Sciences; BA Social Sciences; BA Child and Youth Studies.

A degree in nursing. Previous students have found the experience they got on placements to be extremely beneficial in gaining employment in roles such as health or social care assistants.
