What is special about this course?
The NC Beauty Therapy Services and Treatments is a programme which will allow you to gain and develop the skills, knowledge and understanding of the beauty sector and related industries. The National Certificate should be recognised by any potential employer as a measure of your abilities and should allow for employment in a junior role within the beauty industry. The course is delivered on a full-time basis and will provide you with a qualification and a defined skill set which reflects the skills essential for a successful career in this sector of employment.
Entry requirements
Three qualifications at SQA National 5 or other relevant qualifications or experience. Alternatively, hairdressing or beauty courses at SCQF level 5 or S/NVQ equivalent. Applicants with relevant work experience will also be considered on an individual basis.
Prospective students without the standard entry requirements would be encouraged to apply and will be considered on an individual basis. Special consideration would be given to mature candidates with relevant work experience.
All candidates would undertake an interview process to ensure that the correct level of programme or entry point was offered.
Due to health and safety considerations, it is recommended that the minimum age for this qualification is 16 years of age at the time of registration.
Through units such as facial manual and electrical treatments, depilation techniques and body massage techniques learners will become competent in their practical ability as well as learning the importance of working together as part of a team and meeting the diverse needs of clients.
Employability skills such as time keeping, treatment timing, customer care and personal presentation will be developed as will the opportunity to consider good citizenship through recycling products and consumables, waste control measures and having an appreciation of the sustainability of product brands used.
