Almost all topics in this course involve Algebra, and it is vital that applicants are comfortable with equations, brackets, factorising, indices and the rules for fractions and negatives. It is important that Higher Maths candidates devote regular time to revision and independent study outwith class. You will be assessed through three internal assessments (NABs) in November, February and March with a final assessment by external exam in May subject to passing NABs. A scientific calculator is needed for this course. Students may be asked to purchase a textbook.
Standard Grade 1 or 2; a C or above at Intermediate 2 Maths (Units 1,2,3 not units 1, 2, 4); a C or above at National 5 Maths; or an equivalent qualification (eg O Grade Maths) is needed for entry to this course.
If your Maths qualification is from more than 2 years ago, you may be asked to complete a workbook of Maths topics in order to assess your suitability for the level of course.
Only in exceptional cases will we consider applicants with no prior qualifications. Applicants will be given a sheet of National 5 level questions to complte at interview

Most full-time students will have their fees paid.
Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.
