What is special about this course?
This course will allow you to develop the basic skills, knowledge and understanding of the modern vehicle body repair industry. The course is delivered over one year and provides students with basic knowledge of body repair, welding, fabrication and paint techniques used within the automotive environment.
There are no formal entry requirements but you will be asked to undertake an aptitude test and discuss your application with a member of college staff.
Study topics include basic welding, fabrication, removal and fitting of vehicle panels and components, basic spray painting techniques and resistance spot welding. You will also learn basic technologies within body repair and refinishing skills, enabling you to understand and carry out repairs on vehicle panels such as wings, bonnets, sills, doors and the techniques of spray painting.

Most full-time students will have their fees paid.
Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.
What can I do on completion of my course?
Students may progress into employment in the automotive industry through our apprentice programme or alternatively to one of our full-time college based programmes.
Students can pursue a career in the automotive crash repair industry, join our apprentice programme or alternatively use the skills they have developed to start their own business.
