BSc Sport and Fitness
I liked the friendly environment when I attended an open day and when meeting the lecturers in my interview I knew it was here I wanted to study. Previously, I had worked for an electricity company before having a 7 year career break to care for my three children.
I applied to college to expand my knowledge base and teach fitness classes, and achieved that in my second year. I chose this course because I was always sporty in my youth and got back into sport and fitness in my early twenties. Becoming more active helped with my physical and mental health and I wanted to help others do the same. The qualifications I have achieved have opened so many more doors and opportunities for me.
Being a mum of 3 children and at stages, working part-time throughout my studies, it took a while for our family to adapt. Initially I found I was doing all my work last minute which only made me stress more. As the years went on I was able to make better use of my time and my organisational and time management skills improved. It still has its challenges, particularly if the children aren’t well or in school holidays but I have found I am now more able to prioritise and manage my work and the children’s extra curriculum activities a lot more effectively.
I have loved my student years, the new Academy of Sport and Wellbeing is amazing and my confidence has developed over the years, preparing me well to embark on my career.
