As I’m majoring in English in Japan, I decided to come to Scotland for five months to improve my language skills.

I was worried about being lonely at first, but everybody here was very friendly and kind.

Classes for me were in English and in childcare, and as I’m the only Japanese person here, I got lots of chances to try out my knowledge.

The host family I stayed with were very nice. They recommended places to go and things to do, and I loved the atmosphere and Scottish scenery in the country.

Keeping in touch with my family was easy too, as we spoke once a week on Skype.

Having the experience of living and studying in Scotland was really good for my career and I very much enjoyed my time here.
