Claudia finished school, and knew that Perth College UHI had a reputation for being one of the best hospitality departments in which to study.

Claudia BaxendaleI enjoy cooking at home and school, and decided to expand on my skills and knowledge and the college’s Professional Chef Gold Award course definitely did that. The lecturers are all happy to help you with the course or just have a chat. They have made studying here much more enjoyable.

I’ve had many amazing experiences during my time here. This year, I was voted class rep by my peers. I then applied for the Sodexo scholarship and was chosen. When graduating for this year I was given outstanding pupil of the class. I then started Level 3 in which I accomplished so much, I got chosen to make a cake for the Scottish House of Parliament. I then entered ScotHot and won a silver award and best in class - because of this we had an amazing three-course meal at Gleneagles. I was also asked to do a sugar workshop with Willie Pike which was the best experience out of them all and I won’t forget the skills I have learned.

I love being a Perth College UHI student. I’ve met some of my closest friends here, the people are amazing, and the course is perfect for people who learn hands-on. The skills I have learned will open up excellent career opportunities for me.
