Research interests:

Diana’s PhD research explored the performance of Spanish local Council in rural areas facing social exclusion process using qualitative interviews with rural majors and QCA analysis techniques. This was done to explore in depth the actions implemented by local governments in rural areas and the political diversity among them.

She has also been involved in two research projects studying social exclusion in rural areas: one local, developed in Spain, and focused on the impacts of the crisis; and one European, about the territorial dimension of poverty and social exclusion, where she collaborated with the CRRS at the UHI during 2013 in the development of the Spanish case study.

Keen to work cross-and inter-disciplinary, she has a particular interest in exploring social issues and political phenomena in rural areas .

  • Social justice
  • Social policies
  • Rural politics and local governments
  • Comparative approaches and qualitative techniques
