Ellen McNeil has worked in Edinburgh since she was 16 years old, working on behalf of some of the most reputable beauty and spa companies within well-known department stores.

Throughout that time, Ellen also studied at Adam Smith College where she achieved her HND in Beauty Therapy.

Most recently, she gained extensive knowledge of the skin and hair when working with an aesthetic clinic, where she developed her skillset working with laser treatment, performing hair and tattoo removal, undertaking an ‘Acne Specialist Role’ whilst observing and assisting doctors and nurses with more complex procedures. She gained a City & Guilds qualification in Education and Teaching at Glasgow Clyde College, before completing her TQFE at Stirling University where she was able to complete her placement at UHI Perth. Ellen has been successfully nominated by her students consecutively during her four years teaching at UHI Perth. Ellen believes she assists students to find their inner passion to allow them the ability to navigate confidently within the world of beauty.

She believes her personal academic role helps to provide a stable support network for her students, where she also offers academic and pastoral support for students whilst they attend college - this provides a guidance role for students.

Ellen specialises in the Facial Skin Care/Structure, Contemporary Aesthetic Treatments, SFX Make-up and an extensive list of body massage techniques.

“Supporting the beauty industry can be incredibly rewarding. Watching my students flourish, whilst gaining new employability skills is a fantastic level of shared success.”
