From entry level NC Sound through to BSc (Hons) we provide modules in studio recording and production, live sound reinforcement and sound design for film, television and gaming/multimedia to equip you for anever changing dynamic creative industries.
The courses are focused on practical ability and skills underpinned by theory. The audio department is equipped with 4 state of the art recording studios, a performance theatre and 2 large computer suites. Higher level degree students will also develop research skills with alumni involved in developing the industry and contributing to academic and research output on an international as well as local level.
Built on the legacy of the first NC Sound Engineering course developed in Scotland the department has grown and developed an industry recognised degree programme.
Technical theatre contains some similar content to the audio course but broadens the skillset to accommodate the needs of contemporary theatre productions.
As well as sound reinforcement common to the HNC Sound Production course, technical theatre includes practical skills in rigging and applied lighting, audio visual technologies, stage management and set construction and design.
The technical theatre course runs with the musical theatre course and together produce several in house performances a year.
The course will prepare you to cope with the demands of current professional practice and develop your skills in singing and vocal techniques, dance and acting through a range of performance opportunities and training.
