Careers and employability

When you're making big decisions about your future, like whether to take a course at College or getting the career you want, it's important that you get the right information, advice and guidance.

That's where we come in. From the first time you contact us until after you've left, we can help with guidance about your course, careers available, and your options for progressing onto further study.

Careers drop-ins will be offered on a Tuesday morning in Goodlyburn, room 435.  One to one appointments are available on request.  There will be a number of careers events and workshops run throughout the academic year and class workshops can also be provided on request.  Ian can now be found in the Interview room along from Student Services, between 034 and 033.  Employability and Careers resources are still located in what was the Employability Centre, now The Hub.

Part-time Work

As well as a source of extra income, a part-time job helps you to develop the skills that employers are looking for, letting you improve your CV and giving you more to talk about at interviews.

To help you find that job in the first place, we run workshops on CV writing, on interview techniques, and on presenting as effectively as possible to potential employers.

Job Shop

We also run a free, online Job Shop that provides you with help and advice in finding part-time work and graduate vacancies. Find out more about our Job Shop.

While these are great benefits that make finding part-time work worthwhile, please remember that the National Union of Students recommends you spend no more than 16 hours a week on it in term-time to avoid your grades being affected.
