Perth College UHI students and staff can borrow up to 15 books on standard loan up to 150 days. CDs and DVDs can be borrowed for a period of 14 days. Items issued on a standard loan can be recalled after 2 weeks, following a request from another user. Once you receive a recall message, you need to return the item before the recall date, or you will be charged fines at £1 per day, per item. Recall, reservation, and overdue notices are sent to your student/staff email.
A valid student ID card is required to borrow any materials from the library. The person who borrowed materials from the library is solely responsible for their return.
Items can be renewed in the following ways:
by telephone (01738 877721)
They can also be renewed online via the library catalogue.
Users can login to their library account using their standard network username and password.
Further borrowing will only be allowed once fines are settled in full. Where an item is lost or returned damaged, or not returned after a reasonable period of time, the borrower will be charged for the full replacement cost.
If you cannot find the item you require in the library, it may be possible to borrow it from another library, either a University of the Highlands and Islands partner (free service) or from the British Library or other national inter-lending schemes. Please ask library staff about this service, but bear in mind that there may be a charge to obtain items from outwith the University of the Highlands and Islands partnership.
A range of accommodation is available, including a dedicated area for silent study and group study areas.
Library users should not attempt to reserve study spaces by leaving personal belongings in the area during classes or lunchtime. When this occurs, belongings may be cleared from desks by library staff. Please do not leave personal items including laptops unattended for any length of time.
Please respect library staff and other users by behaving in an appropriate and respectful manner. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action. Speak to a member of library staff if you think a fellow student is behaving in an inappropriate way.
Mobile phones should be set to “silent” in the library. Short calls are allowed as long as it doesn’t disturb other users. The exception is in the silent area where mobiles should not be used at all. Please leave the library if you need to make a prolonged call.
Please do not talk in the silent study area at all.
Food and drink
Hot and cold drinks are allowed in the library – please take care not to spill them. We’d prefer you not to eat in the library, but cold snacks are allowed. There should be no hot food consumed in the library. Anyone eating hot food will be asked to leave.
A self-service photocopier/printer is available for use in the library. All students receive an allocation of print credit at the start of their course. Additional credit can be purchased from the library issue desk.
Laminating and binding facilities and scanning services are also available in the library.
