This course provides you with a general introduction to food and hospitality so you can decide if this fast-paced but rewarding work is right for you. We work closely with The Gleneagles Hotel on the content of course to make sure it gives you the skills that employers need.
Applicants should have core skills at Access 3/National 3 in Communications, Numeracy and IT. You will also be invited to attend an interview and practical skills test.
This year long programme is delivered over three days per week. A range of interesting and relevant qualifications are included:
Professional practice is an integral part of the course, which is carried out in the Food Court. In this course, you will also study five Core Skills, including communication, ICT and numeracy, which can help you to gain the essential skills required for life, learning and employment.
Face to face teaching; practical hands-on; independent study
Most full-time students will have their fees paid.
Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.
You may progress onto the Professional Chef Silver Award or Professional Hospitality Silver Award at Perth College UHI or a modern apprenticeship work-based programme of study.
