The SVQ 2 course will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to begin your career in hairdressing. If you enjoy working with people in an exciting industry where you constantly gain a sense of achievement, hairdressing can enhance your creative potential. This is the ideal qualfication for getting the full range of basic hairdressing skills. You will carry out a range of hairdressing services on real clients in our modern salon under supervision. Seminars, demonstrators and workshops from employers are delivered throughout the year adding value to this course.
City & Guilds does not have set entry requirements for this qualification however applicants should have at least a SCQF Level 4 qualification preferably in Hairdressing N/SVQ Level 1 qualification, VTCT Hairdressing Diploma or relevant hairdressing experience e.g. a years work experience. You should have good communications skills and show attention to personal presentation. For non-English speaking students literacy Level 2 is a requirement. Applicants who do not hold a relevant qualification may still apply. All applicants selected for interview will be required to undertake a diagnostic test which includes a written statement and a practical activity. The selection process will include a discussion of your application at interview and you should be able to demonstrate a clear interest in pursuing a career in this field.

This course can provide progressing to Hairdressing SVQ Level 3. You can also achieve your NVQ Level 2 Barbering unit at our night school class.
You should be able to find work in a salon as a junior stylist.
