Engineering Practice NQ
What is special about this course?
The NQ5 Engineering Practice course contains a mixture of practical activities and classroom-based activities. The primary focus of the course is to provide students with a range of engineering practical skills supported by relevant theory where appropriate. As such this award is suitable for those candidates who wish to become skilled crafts persons/trades persons in a wide range of engineering disciplines. Successful study will give you a solid grounding in the fundamentals of engineering and allows you to progress to a higher level of study, likely at NQ Engineering Systems Level 6.
You will be invited to discuss your application with us, but a qualification at SCQF 4/5 or equivalent in Maths and Physics is desired, and English would be an advantage. Your application and interview will form part of the selection process. You can progress to this course from NQ Basic Engineering Skills.

Most full-time students will have their fees paid.
Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.
What can I do on completion of my course?
Successful study will give you a solid grounding in the fundamentals of engineering and allows you to progress to a higher level of study, likely at NQ Engineering Systems Level 6.
You can use this course to progress to our NQ Engineering Systems Level 6 which can lead to study on our HNC Engineering Systems or HNC Aircraft Engineering courses (which can lead to our degree programmes).
The engineering sector is an important and expanding area of the national economy in sectors including oil and gas, on-shore and off-shore renewables and manufacturing. Successful completion of this course will give you the opportunity to pursue employment in these sectors, seek further training through securing employment and a Modern Apprenticeship or continue on a more academic path. It can also be advantageous in applying for a Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering.
