Fundraising and investment

Fundraising

Development and fundraising activities have become an increasingly significant feature of higher education funding in recent years due to the changes in government policy.

The aim of the Development Office is to raise funds and develop mutually beneficial relations with local businesses, the wider community, our alumni, friends and benefactors. Charitable support means we have greater flexibility and it allows us to invest in areas of excellence, to provide scholarships for those who otherwise would not be able to afford to study or those who excel in their work.

We are currently raising funds for scholarships and our Annual fund.

Capital investment

Thanks to our Development Trust, UHI Perth has been able to invest £12 million in its campus to create an attractive, fully integrated and high quality site of learning, ready to meet the needs of students and community for many years to come.

Projects supported by the Development Trust include a new Study Centre; Special Educational Needs Unit; Nursery; Music and Media Centre; Advanced Technology Centre; Campus Link Building; and the campus showpiece - the Academy of Sport and Wellbeing.

At UHI Perth we know that continued investment is vital – without it we cannot maintain our position as one of the leading colleges in Scotland. We are indebted to the huge number of friends, local businesses and trusts who have supported us throughout our capital campaign and helped us achieve such huge success. It is encouraging for us to know that they are interested in the work we are doing and their contributions at all levels have made an enormous difference in helping us improve and develop the campus and provide first-class facilities for both students and the local community.

Scholarships

We want to give our students the opportunity to achieve their goals and reach their full potential. At the same time, we aim to provide our local community with a highly trained workforce. We offer our students a wide range of scholarships, with most including financial awards and invaluable career help.

Funding comes from the College's Development Trust, with donations made by entrepreneurial business owners and individuals who want to invest in Scotland's economic future.

A number of exciting initiatives, engaging individuals, businesses and other organisations, are managed by our Development Officer to ensure that we can help anyone achieve their aspirations, providing the resources to maintain excellent standards and offer the best education and training to our students.

Where we want to make a difference

Over the next three years we are keen to attract funders to enhance the student experience at UHI Perth.  Our main priorities are:

  • Research, project development, direct funding awards, peer support initiatives, equipment and facilities
  • Target audiences – care experienced, vulnerable, disadvantaged and disengaged individuals to increase their opportunities
  • Target interventions – learning, skills development, work experience, innovation, enterprise, health and wellbeing.
