Sheena Devlin, Independent Board Member
Sheena Devlin is Executive Director (Education and Children’s Services) in Perth and Kinross. She has had a long and varied career in education working in a range of schools and local authorities in different posts; she took up her current post as Executive Director in October 2015.
She has had the privilege of two national secondments – one as a full time Associate Assessor with HMIe and the other as a Professional Adviser to the Scottish Executive during the early development days of Curriculum for Excellence.
She is a values driven, passionate senior education professional, with a firm belief in social justice and a commitment to ensuring the provision of high-quality outcomes for children, young people, their families, and communities.
As a very experienced former Head Teacher, senior manager and now Chief Officer, she believes it is vital to engage with those we work alongside and those we seek to serve to inform any improvement agenda. In times of significant social change and economic challenges, the leadership of change should be a job for many.
She is a member of ADES – the Association for Directors of Education in Scotland – is currently the vice-president and as such plays a role in helping influencing and shaping national education policy.
She was the Lead Officer for the Tayside Regional Improvement Collaborative from its inception in 2016 until the end of July 2021.
Away from work she enjoys playing and listening to music, but the pandemic had put paid to attending any live music gigs for quite some time. Reading and watching films are great escapism. Hill walking and outdoor bootcamp are her preferred ways of keeping fit and active. She sings in the PKC staff choir – Everyone Can Sing.
