Our Curriculum Heads are responsible for ensuring the achievement of quality academic standards, business and financial goals in curriculum areas and are supported by Subject Leaders and other staff.
Dr David Gourley
Head of Learning and Teaching Enhancement
David has a leading role in directing the college curriculum, including full-time, part-time and short course commercial provision. He leads the college employer engagement strategy and its implementation. He passionately believes that employer engagement should be central in informing curriculum design. David worked in research in anti-biotic and anti-parasite drug design in universities and industry before moving into educational management in the college sector in 2004.
Sector Development Director: Applied Life Sciences
Eleanor Brown has over 20 years’ experience of further and higher education gained from working in colleges in the West Midlands, Cornwall, West Yorkshire and Perth. She has a background as a subject specialist in the social sciences. She is currently responsible for the management of a diverse curriculum area which includes, social science, health and social care, early education and childcare, hairdressing and beauty therapy.
Sector Development Director: Business, Management, Computing and Leisure
With over 20 years’ experience of the education sector both in Scotland and abroad, Catherine has held a number of managerial positions within the FE/HE sector. Before commencing her career in education she held positions within local government and British Telecom. In addition to her role at Perth College, Catherine has assumed a number of additional roles within the education sector, including the Scottish Qualifications Authority and Education Scotland. She has also served as an external representative for the formal validation of degrees in a number of Scottish universities.
She worked in Middle East on the implementation and development of a new education college, where she provided guidance on SQA institutional approval and the development of a vocationally focussed curriculum. Currently she is working on 2 new facility projects including the new Academy of Sport and Wellbeing and the Perth Outdoor Activity Centre based at Willowgate on the bank of the River Tay.
Sector Development Director: Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths
Jennifer studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Dundee and has since gone on to complete her PGCE(FE) with the University of Sunderland and a FdA in Leadership and Management. She has over 13 years of experience working within Further and Higher Education starting in The North East of England lecturing in sport, politics and engineering before moving on to be a Subject Leader. She then moved to Scotland taking a post as a Department Manager for Engineering. She joined Perth College UHI in August 2014. Jennifer is also an ex-Army Captain having served for 14 years in the reserves.
