We want to keep the campus a safe environment for all, and therefore we are all responsible for various matters relating to health and safety. Perth College UHI undertakes regular assessments of risks which may cause danger and takes steps to control or eliminate these risks.
General health and safety posters and guidance are displayed around the College.
However, please remember these few keys points:
- We must all act in a safe and responsible way in College and respect health and safety guidance - that's the bottom line of the law.
- If you notice a hazard in or around the College buildings, please report it to a member of staff as soon as possible.
- Make yourself familiar with fire procedures and exits. If the fire alarm sounds, follow the nearest signed exit route - do not use lifts. Meet at the assembly point for that area. Anyone with a mobility problem should be made aware of special evacuation arrangements.
- Your lecturer will advise you of any particular matters which may affect salons, workshops, kitchens, practical areas, IT rooms etc. Please make sure you follow their instructions, and use any protective equipment provided.
- Do not use your own electrical equipment in the College unless it has been electrically tested and approved.
- Trained first-aiders are available in all areas of the College. If you feel unwell, or are involved in or witness an accident, please contact the nearest member of staff who will summon assistance.
- Currently, all internal areas of Perth College UHI and its Learning Centres are no smoking areas. We have a managed smoking campus so please only use designated areas and shelters.
- Please drive slowly within the car park areas and only park in marked spaces. This respects pedestrians, other vehicles, and keeps access roads clear for emergencies.
Please note that incidents of fighting, bullying, harassment or being in the possession of illegal substances or weapons, or being under the influence of alcohol or substances, will be viewed as a risk to health and safety, as well as being a disciplinary offence under the Student Disciplinary Code and a possible breach of the dignity in the College Community Policy. These incidents are treated extremely seriously.
