 Attendance and Achievement

If you do not attend Perth College UHI as required by your course, and make progress with your assessments, you may be putting your success at risk. There is a close link between your regular attendance at college, or participation in online courses, and your achievement of your course.

If you have problems attending College for any reason, you should discuss this with your Student Adviser as soon as possible to try to find a solution. We want you to succeed and will try to support you to do this. However, the real choices and motivation will be with you.

Failure to attend and progress may hit your pocket through stopping payments on loans, bursaries or Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA). It will also impact on your plans for further study or your employability. You may be asked to leave your course if you continue to not have satisfactory achievement or attendance.

You should make every effort to attend all timetabled classes, and meet with other students to participate in group work where required. Holidays, work commitments and appointments should be planned out with your timetabled hours wherever possible. If you know you will be absent in advance, you should complete an Authorised Absence Request form (available from your curriculum area office) and have this signed by your Curriculum Manager.

If you are ill, you should contact your curriculum area office on the first day of your absence. For the first five days of absence, you can complete a self certification form available from Student Records. After that, you will need to get a medical certificate from your GP or hospital.

Please make sure that you speak to your Student Adviser about any problems you may have in catching up after absence. You will have to take responsibility for making sure that you have not missed any assessments or important course work.
