The Oak Foundation is a Geneva-based organisation that commits its resources to address issues of global social and environmental concern, particularly those that have a major impact on the lives of the disadvantaged.
The Foundation has funded a three-year Research Fellowship. The Oak Fellow’s role is to continue and develop the work previously undertaken by Professor Stewart Asquith, on the recovery and reintegration of child victims from the effects of sexual exploitation and/or trafficking.
Professor Asquith’s research identified a number of gaps in this field including; a lack of evidence of ‘what works’ for children in recovery and reintegration; ineffectiveness in translating research findings into practice on the ground; a limited flow of knowledge and learning between actors.
Key areas of work of the Fellow include:
• Establishing an on-line hub for research, learning and knowledge transfer activities in the field of recovery and reintegration.
• Identifying and developing resources for practitioners.
• Working towards the design of a programme effectiveness framework.
• Identifying gaps in research.
• Promoting the voices and experiences of children.
