An Evaluation of Restorative Justice Services to Persons Harmed in Perth & Kinross

This new report contains the full data, analysis and findings of an evaluative research project into Restorative Justice Services provided within Perth & Kinross local authority area. Perth College UHI staff, Shiona McArthur and Elinor Moses were commissioned by the Perth & Kinross Youth Justice Partnership.

 

Restorative justice and practice has become increasingly prominent over the last ten years in Scotland, and Perth & Kinross council have been particularly active in the adoption of this approach in areas such as youth justice and even schooling.

 

The aims of the evaluation were to:

• Evaluate the experience of restorative justice services as used by persons harmed (by crime)

• To gather independent, qualitative data on the experience of service users.

Scotland: A safe place for child traffickers?

A scoping study by the Centre for Rural Childhood in 2011 into the extent and nature of child trafficking into and within Scotland commissioned by Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People.

 

Child Trafficking Report 2011

The purpose of the study is to provide the Commissioner with an understanding of child trafficking so his office can make recommendations for policy, practice and legislative change, and the results can be used to raise awareness of child trafficking among professionals and key stakeholders.

A new book, 'Child Slavery Now: A Contemporary Reader' was published in 2010 by Policy Press. Oak Fellow, Claire Cody contributed a chapter entitled 'Birth registration: a tool for prevention, protection and prosecution' to this important publication.

 

'Recovery services for child victims of sexual violence and their families - what can be offered?' Chapter by Claire Cody in a  book on sexual violence. This was part of the official launch of the campaign to stop sexual violence against children was hosted by the Italian Ministry for Equal Opportunities in Rome, Italy, on 29-30 November 2010.
