CMS conducted a study in early 2008 which explored the key benefits and impacts of the grouse shooting industry from the perspective of a rural community within which grouse shooting is a common activity. This work was supported by the Scottish Countryside Alliance Educational Trust.
A single in-depth case study of the linked communities of Tomintoul and Strathdon was carried out, which included a survey of all nearby estates, a postal survey of the entire community and a number of semi-structured with key community-level informants. A pdf of the final report for this study can be downloaded here.
