Student getting ready to ‘take over’ hotel
Perth College UHI students will take over the running of The Salutation Hotel in Perth to put their skills to the ultimate test.  The hospitality students will be participating in the ‘take over’ as part of the College’s partnership with one of the oldest hotels in Scotland on Wednesday 25th January.

Ian Gibb, Perth College UHI Hospitality Curriculum Manager explained: “The aim of the takeover is to

give our students maximum experience of working in a

hotel as they prepare for their career in the exciting world

of hospitality and catering.”

Around 12 students will undertake all of the key roles and responsibilities associated with running a major three-star hotel, including housekeeping, food preparation and service, bar service, reception duties, sales and general management of the hotel.  The hotel’s Head of Departments will work with the students in each department.

Gordon Paterson, Salutation Hotel General Manager added: “The students will understand what a real working day is like as they will get involved with all aspects of our Head of Department’s duties.  We also intend to check their understanding with a simple test, so we will encourage them to really get involved!”
