Pathways Learning Centre in Perth

A group of St Johnstone players are developing off-the-park skills at Perth College UHI’s Pathways Learning Centre in Perth, South Street.

In partnership with the Scottish Professional Footballers’ Association, the young players are undertaking the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), a nationally recognised qualification which will provide them with skills in the use of a PC and a range of software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, internet and email.

As the course is offered on an ‘open access’ basis, the boys can attend at various times during the week, fitting learning around their busy training schedules and match day commitments.

Tommy Campbell, St Johnstone’s Youth Development Manager commented: “Achieving qualifications to equip them with skills for progression into different employment areas is vital for all young players – they need something to fall back on when their playing career comes to an end. The flexibility offered in Pathways means they can complete their studies without it impacting on their club commitments.”

ECDL Essentials and ECDL Extra are on offer in all of Perth College UHI’s Learning Centres. To find out more, visit the learning centre pages
