Captain Eric “Winkle” Brown |
Perth College UHI is hosting a public lecture featuring a legendary figure from the world of flight, Captain Eric “Winkle” Brown CBE DSC AFC RN on Thursday 26 January at 7pm.
Now aged 93, Captain Brown will talk about his experiences of flying captured German aircraft at RAE Farnborough during WWII. After a career as a pilot in the Fleet Air Arm, he became a test pilot, and has flown more different aircraft and made more aircraft carrier landings than any other pilot. The first to land a twin-engine aircraft, a tricycle-undercarriage aircraft and a jet-engine aircraft on aircraft carriers, Captain Brown also interrogated senior German officials after the war, including Hermann Göring.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the lecture on Thursday 26 January at 7pm in the Brahan Lecture Theatre on the Perth College UHI Crieff Road campus.
